Name of Character: Mafalda Hopkirk
Position: Deputy Head of the Improper Use of Magic Office
Personality: Mafalda is an irascible woman with a sharp tongue, both of which are bound to go off when discussing department funding, broken coffee machines, and, her favorite, department leadership under Barty Crouch Sr. She believes that she can handle just about anything and deserves the position she's in, so she accepts all of the work that Barty Crouch throws at her, leaving her with a high stress level.
Biography: The Hopkirks are a small, odd assortment of liberals, conservatives, wizards and Muggles. Mafalda's immediate family consists of her Muggle mother, a liberal, and her wizard father, a conservative. She lived with both parents, and a younger brother until she went to Hogwarts, where she was sorted into Hufflepuff. She entered the Ministry after her Hogwarts graduation in 1956, when she worked for the Wizengamot Administration Services as a clerk until 1961, when she moved to the Improper Use of Magic Office. She turned 42 last November.
